Building The Future of Art Analytics

As humans we have built thousands of beautiful art museums around the world, we have art history departments in every major university, and single paintings can sell for up to hundreds of millions of dollars- but what do we really know about our most famous art? The answer is not very much. Today it is difficult if not impossible to answer basic questions about how many works an artist created, where those works are located, how the artists materials have changed over time etc. In this presentation Jason Baileytalks shares how he went on a personal mission to build the world's largest data base of complete known works by famous artists to develop a new language of art analytics and greatly expand what we know about the world's most important treasures, it's art.

Culture Differences: Digital Humanities Study and Work in the UK
